Since Palatine’s investment in 2022, Cura Terrae has expanded its environmental consultancy services across government, local authorities, utilities and industry, helping clients tackle some of the UK’s most pressing environmental challenges. Environmental impact is embedded across every service line, from protecting rivers through water quality and wastewater monitoring to supporting cleaner air, sustainable land management and ecological restoration.
The business measures its performance against Palatine’s Six Pillars ESG framework – Climate, Planet, Supply Chain, People, Customers & Community, and Leadership – demonstrating consistent progress across both commercial and impact metrics.
Over the investment period, Cura Terrae has achieved significant growth Client satisfaction has also strengthened, with Net Promoter Scores rising from 65 to 92, while the number of UK Habitat jobs delivered has more than tripled since 2021.
The company has also accelerated its own sustainability journey by calculating carbon footprints across each operating business, introducing tailored carbon reduction plans and mandating electric vehicles for company fleet renewals wherever practical.
A key milestone following Palatine’s investment has been the development and commercialisation of CENTAUR®, Cura Terrae’s AI-driven technology designed to improve storm overflow performance and reduce flood risk. As the UK water sector invests £56 billion to reduce storm overflow releases, CENTAUR™ provides water companies with a faster, lower-carbon and more cost-effective alternative to traditional infrastructure.
The technology has already delivered proven results with Southern Water, helping eliminate 135 spills in 2024, reducing overall storm overflow releases by 90%, demonstrating both environmental and commercial value.
